UMS-Wright Chess Team March 22, 2002
UMS-Wright
took home trophies never won by UMS-Wright Thursday evening at the
6th and final round of the Regional Scholastic Chess League. The
C-Team won a second place trophy and maintained an undefeated season.
The B-Team won a third place trophy. Michael Owens won a coveted
“Top Board Award” as the second highest rated player in the
region among more than 290 tournament players.
UMS-Wright Players played 90 individual games under tournament pressure. The UMS-Wright players posted a individual game record of 56½ - 33½.

Combining my love for competition and interest in science was something I did from early on in my career.
